Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale 2026
Lot 1 Snitzel (AUS) - Yesterjoy (AUS) Bay Filly
$500,000
Karaka Yearling Sales 2026
Lot 147 bay or brown colt Home Affairs – Special Memories (Fastnet Rock) $475,000 (draft: Landsdowne Park).
Te Akau has plenty of knowledge regarding the family, with David Ellis having purchased dam Special Memories for $400,000 as a yearling at Karaka, and a filly with good ability she won as a two-year-old, stakes placed in the Armadillo Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) and finished fourth in the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), both won by stable-mate Risque (Darci Brahma).
Moreover, she escalated in value when her sister Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock) won the $1m Australian Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m), Chelmsford Stakes (Gr. 2, 1600m) and Phar Lap Stakes (Gr. 2, 1500m) among six wins from 1250m – 2400m.
Unforgotten was also bought as a yearling at Karaka, for $360,000, won $1.5m in prize money, and sold as a broodmare for $2.75m.
The colt is by Australian Champion Three-Year-Old and emerging star sire Home Affairs, a second-season stallion by Champion Sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).
Standing at Coolmore Stud, Home Affairs won the Silver Slipper Stakes (Gr. 2, 1100m) as a two-year-old at Rosehill, and became Champion 3YO Colt in Australia, after winning the Coolmore Stud Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) and Black Caviar Lightning (Gr. 1, 1000m), both at Flemington.
Home Affairs was Leading First Season Sire, with his yearlings selling up $3.2m, and Te Akau has already had success with his progeny when Kinnaird, a yearling that Ellis bought on the Gold Coast, winning on debut and emulating in the Eclipse Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m).
While Special Memories is by reigning Australian Champion Broodmare Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill), heading for his third consecutive title in the role, granddam Memories of You is by Galileo, who took the mantle from his sire, Sadler’s Wells, as sire of more stakes’ winners and Group One winners than any sire in history.
“He’s an incredible colt, very astute, high-class, beautifully prepared, and from a family we know so well,” said David Ellis.
“He was among our highest rated colts in the sale, by a young sire that is putting some incredible statistics together, and having Fastnet Rock, Galileo, and Nureyev, as sires in his dam line is blood that is very hard to buy.
“He has the makings of an outstanding racehorse and the pedigree to become a sire himself.”
The colt carries a Danehill cross on the dam line of Home Affairs and sire line of Special Memories.
