Description

Lot 214 chestnut filly Extreme Choice – Deroche (Needs Further) A$850,000 (draft: Newgate Farm)

NOTE: this filly is one of two fillies comprising our Te Akau 2026 Magic Filly Partnership - a share must also be purchased in Lot 148 the Snitzel/Carry On Alice filly - not in the fillies individually.

Sharp, classy and unmistakably fast-looking, this chestnut filly has two-year-old written all over her. From a family that knows how to  win, she combines elite pedigree with undeniable physical presence.

Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) sire Extreme Choice, a dual Group One winning sprinter standing at Newgate Farm, N.S.W, is statistically one of the most elite sires in the world when it comes to his ratio of Group One winners to runners.

Some would argue, that he is, indeed, the hottest young sire in the world at present, given 12% stakes winners to runners and 17 stakes winners including six individual Group One winners.

Known for his versatility, having sired winners of the Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) and Melbourne Cup (Gr. 1, 3200m), and with a A$330,000 service fee, the yearling progeny by Extreme Choice sold up $1.7m last year and averaged in excess of $570,000.

His Champion Two-Year-Old Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside is now sought after stallion, himself, with a stakes’ winner from his first crop two-year-olds. Both Stay Inside and Extreme Warrior, each young stallions by Extreme Choice, are within the top three First Crop Sires List in Australia.

The filly is very much in the mould of her chestnut dam Deroche, who recorded 13 wins from 1100m – 1400m – four as a two-year-old – including Group Three and Listed victories, and this is her second foal.

Granddam, Buzzing Along (Tough Speed), was also a successful sprinter winning three times and in turn left six individual winners of 22 races.

“She is one of the best-looking fillies I’ve seen in some time,” said David Ellis.

“She is very sharp, classy, from a great family, and has two-year-old written all over her. She is beautifully balanced and athletic, has a wonderful temperament, and we could not fault her.

“There was a lot of competition in the ring for her and we were thrilled to be able secure her for Te Akau.”

Boasting terrific influences in her pedigree, she carries bloodline crosses to breed shaping sires Danehill and Mr. Prospector.
