Description

Lot 256 brown filly Per Incanto – Alam Mo Na (High Chaparral) $210,000 (draft: Little Avondale Stud)

Per Incanto is by Street Cry (Machiavellian), the same sire at the incomparable Winx, winner of 25 Group One races.

Per Incanto is continuing to grow in stature as an elite international sire, which culminated with him winning the Centaine Award for top worldwide progeny earnings in 2024/25. The $20 million in prize money surpassed that of 10-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel).

Per Incanto even rose to 15th in the Australian General Sires’ List – a remarkable feat – with triple Group One winner Jimmysstar and Group One winner Gringotts, while also siring dual NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Belclare.

A sire whose progeny have looked classy types from the outset, Per Incanto has produced over 460 individual winners, including 35 individual stakes winners, with a range of quality sprinters and middle-distance fillies, mares, colts, and geldings, among them.

Averaging $310,000 at the Sydney Easter Sale in 2024, with a top of $475,000, Per Incanto is also going from strength to strength as a broodmare sire, having produced 43 winners, including nine stakes’ winners, and his fillies are becoming of increasing residual value.

Dam Alam Mo Na, a dual winner to 2200m, is by Champion Sire and sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells).

Winner of six Group One races, including the Epsom Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) and Irish Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) and Champion 3YO Colt, High Chaparral has been a breeding phenomenon, and continued as a sensational broodmare sire with over 90 stakes winners, including 15 Group One winners.

Granddam Queen Of The Hill was a dual Group Three winning sprinter by legendary Champion Sire Danehill (Danzig), and in turn been a very good producer with five individual winners of 18 races.

“She’s a really athletic filly from a stud that stand the stallion and have done an incredible job breeding him and constantly upgrading the mares that they breed to Per Incanto,” said David Ellis.

“The mare, Alam Mo Na, is already doing a good job at stud, with two to race, a winner and the other has placed, and there are plenty of two-year-old winners in the family.

“Having two worldclass sires, High Chaparral and Danehill, as the first two dam sires, you can’t ask for more, and she’s a beautiful type of filly that looks like she’ll develop into being a really nice three-year-old filly and mare.

The filly has bloodline crosses to breed shaping sire Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer.
