From the same leading thoroughbred nursery, Waikato Stud, Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM bought reigning Champion Two-Year-Old La Dorada, one of four individual Group One winners for sensational young sire Super Seth (Dundeel).

Super Seth made a fantastic impact as a three-year-old colt, especially when ‘coming from nowhere’ to beat race favourite Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) in the Caulfield Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).

Super Seth is a son of six-time Group One winner Dundeel, by sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells), whose sons include Dundeel, So You Think, Toronado, Contributer, Ace High, Redwood, and Tivaci, all sires of Group One winners.

With his oldest crop now four-year-olds, Super Seth has been Champion First & Second Season Sire, Champion 2YO Sire, and already produced 68 individual winners, including eight stakes’ winners.

While La Dorada, also out of a daughter of Savabeel, has been his sole Group One winning filly, he has produced Randwick Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Linebacker, Queensland Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) winner Maison Louis, and Feroce, winner of the Australian Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).

Dam American Actress is a sister to The Real Beal (Savabeel), a blue-blood filly whom Ellis bought as a yearling, became a debut winning two-year-old, before selling to Garry Chittick (Waikato Stud), and subsequently won the Cal Isuzu Stakes (Gr. 2, 1600m).

Being from the same family as Champion Three-Year-Old, Cox Plate winner, and Australian Horse of the Year Octagonal (Zabeel), stallion Kaapstad (Sir Tristram), hugely talented Group One sprinter Diamond Lover (Sticks and Stones), and having nine-time winner Marquise (Gold and Ivory) as his fourth dam, ensures a colt of this quality every chance of making it as a racehorse and potential sire.

“We know the Super Seth / Savabeel cross works, having bought La Dorada as a yearling, and also her mother Gold Fever (Savabeel), and there is no doubt that it will a heralded mating in the future,” said David Ellis.

“He showed great acceleration as a racehorse, Super Seth, and we’re seeing that in his offspring. He also puts great strength into his progeny.

“He really is an eye-catching type of colt, with plenty of rein and scope, and he’s a classic example of this fantastic family.

“They’re worldclass breeders at Waikato Stud, there were a lot of good judges on him, and we were thrilled to get him.”

The colt has bloodline cross to the highest stakes producing stallion in NZ history, Zabeel (Sir Tristram), and also legendary Champion Sire Danehill.
