Description

Lot 347 bay colt Spirit of Boom – Chenzel (Snitzel) $100,000 (draft: Landsdowne Park)

The colt by four-time Champion Sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo), the Leading First Season Sire by winners in Australia, has sired a huge number of winners (over 500 with more than 1500 wins), including 48 stakes wins.

He has also been Leading Sire of 2YO Winners and Stakes Winners in Australia, and has a very good winners-to-runners percentage.

The colt is the first foal out of Chenzel, a smart winner over 1400 metres in Australia, and by four-time Champion Sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), who rose to third in the Australian Broodmare Sires’ List last season, while approaching 50 individual stakes winners, and no doubt will keep becoming more impactful in that role.

The second dam, Chenille (Pentire), is well known to racegoers in New Zealand, being an impressive Group One winner that recorded nine wins from 1600m – 3200m.

A gifted filly and mare, Chenille had a great turn of foot, excelled on good ground, and won the Hawkes Bay Cup (Listed, 2200m) on her way to winning the Auckland Cup (Gr. 1, 3200m).

Chenille is a half-sister to another impressive Group Two & Group Three winner, Chintz (Savabeel), who in turn produced outstanding Group Two winning two-year-old Not An Option (Not A Single Doubt).

The family has enormous depth, with fourth dam Seraphic (Imposing), a Group Three winner and Group One placed, and her daughters in turn producing classy Group Two winner Irlanda (O’Reilly), dual Group Two winner and now sire Mo’unga (Savabeel), and talented stakes winning juvenile Super Photon (Super Seth).

“He’s a beautiful example of the mating, with plenty of input from Spirit of Boom and Snitzel in his makeup, and also the rein and scope of Chenille, who we got to know so well when she raced in New Zealand,” said David Ellis.

“He’s been well prepared, has a great temperament, very relaxed individual, and looks as though he has the precocity to come early and certainly train on at three, four, and five.”

The colt has a bloodline cross of legendary Champion Sire Danehill (Danzig) on the dam line of Spirit of Boom and sire line of Chenzel.
