$500,000
Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sales 2026
Lot 603 bay colt Snitzel – Never Listen (Trusting) A$675,000 (draft: Kenmore Lodge)
NOTE: this colt is one of two colts comprising our Te Akau 2026 Magic Colt Partnership - a share must also be purchased in Lot 493 the Snitzel/Loving Gaby colt - not in the colts individually.
The colt is by four-time Champion Sire in Australia, and four-time Champion Two-Year-Old Sire Snitzel, regarded as a breed shaping stallion, like his sire Redoute’s Choice and grandsire Danehill.
Snitzel stood at Arrowfield Stud for $247,500 + GST before passing in 2025, thus making his progeny rare commodities.
Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM has proven to be a great judge of yearlings by Snitzel, when buying Group One winning Champion Two-Year-Old Sword Of State, now an exciting young sire at Cambridge Stud, unbeaten Group One winning two-year-old Return To Conquer, along with recent dual winner King’s English.
Snitzel progeny have recorded over 300 stakes wins, including 33 Group One wins, and his two-year-old fillies have won the Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) three times, while his highest priced yearling colt made $2.8m.
The colt is the third foal of dual winner Never Listen (Trusting), who won her Maiden over 1400m before winning impressively over 2200m, then finished runner-up in the VRC Oaks (Gr. 1, 2500m).
Her first foal, Group Three winner Matias, a $450,000 colt by Snitzel, put together back-to-back wins in November and December 2025, scoring his Maiden over 1500 metres before a big victory in the Grand Prix Stakes (Gr. 3, 1800m) at Eagle Farm.
Granddam Rose O’ War, by legendary sire Danehill (Danzig), won seven times from 1200m – 1600m, was a Group & Listed winner three times to 1600m, and she too was runner-up in the VRC Oaks (Gr. 1, 2500m).
In turn, Rose O’ War became an excellent producer, with nine winners of 27 races, including stakes performers.
“It’s great to buy a young colt by the Champion Sire Snitzel that already has a proven cross with the mare,” said David Ellis.
“The dam, Never Listen, displayed tremendous toughness and stamina, and we’ve already seen that in her first foal Matias (Snitzel). “It’s important when looking for a middle-distance prospect like this to see the bloodlines work.
“He’s a very well put together colt, wonderfully correct, that looks as though he’ll show some natural precocity as a two-year-old, and obviously bred to train on over longer distances.”
The colt carries a beautiful cross of Danehill, on the sire line of Snitzel and dam line of Never Listen, as the sire of Rose O’ War.
