Description

Lot 932 bay filly Spirit Of Boom – Typhoon Jolie (Shamardal) $80,000 (draft: Attunga Stud)

The filly by four-time Champion Sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo), the Leading First Season Sire by winners in Australia, has sired a huge number of winners (over 500 with more than 1500 wins), including 48 stakes wins.

He has also been Leading Sire of 2YO Winners and Stakes Winners in Australia, and has a very good winners-to-runners percentage.

Te Akau has experienced tremendous success buying progeny out of mares by Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway), including World Champion Sprinter, Australian Sprinter of the Year, and NZ Horse of the Year, 10-time Group One winner Imperatriz, and Group One winner Move To Strike, both by I Am Invincible.

Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway), once third in the TRC Global World Sire Rankings, established himself as a broodmare sire of the highest calibre with a winners-to-runners and stakes winners’ ratio among the most elite.

A brilliant eight-length winner on debut, Shamardal won four Group One races from 1400m – 2100m and won six of his seven starts before retiring to stud. He has a fantastic pedigree, with a Mr. Prospector influence of speed and versatility, and proved himself as a sire of both juvenile and classic excellence.

Dam Typhoon Jolie won five races from 1000m – 1400m, including fourth at Group Three level, and while this is her third foal, her first two foals are both winners. It’s A Yes (Yes Yes Yes) has looked talented winning twice to 1100m, while Larusso (So You Think) has also shown the family ability winning twice to 1600m.

Granddam and Horse of the Year in Singapore, Jolie’s Shinju (Jolie’s Halo) won over AUD$1m in prize money, with nine wins from 1200m – 2000m, and produced seven individual winners of 25 races, including the dual Group Two and Group Three winner Formality (Fastnet Rock).

“She is a powerful filly, from a great winning family, and there is a lot of horse here for the price,” said David Ellis.

“She has such good strength right through her physique, we know she will come early as a two-year-old type, and she also has the pedigree to gain a lot of residual value as a broodmare following a successful racing career.”

The filly carries a Danzig (Northern Dancer) cross on the dam lines of both Spirit Of Boom and Typhoon Jolie.
